The first weekend of March, the sisters held community meetings. The gathering centered on the upcoming move into the new monastery. It was an exciting time as the sisters were instructed about packing procedures and time frame for the big move. On Saturday afternoon, the sisters were able to enter the new building to see their bedrooms and other areas. The joy on the sister’s faces was evident as they explored their new home and realizing the dream coming true.
You would think that was the highlight of the weekend, and even though it was very exciting, there was another highlight that overshadowed the viewing of the new monastery. We were blessed with some very special guests for lunch on Saturday. Students, teachers and parents, from the kindergarten class at Christ The King School came to present the community with a very special gift. The class, several months ago, had an auction for art work they had made. All proceeds from the auction was to be donated to our building fund. So, on Saturday, these wonderful representatives and artists, presented Sr. Julie Sewell with a check for $1,500. What a beautiful gesture and generous gift from these talented students. The community feels so very blessed that they have people who believe in their dream and are so generously supporting it.
The ministry of the sisters also came into full circle as Sr. Bernardine as reunited with one of her former first grade students who just happens to be one of the kindergarten teachers present.
