We ended our July Chapter meetings in true Benedictine fashion. We began our final day with meetings in the morning and then, in the afternoon, gathered for prayer and our Missioning Service. Each year the Prioress presents each sister from the eldest to the youngest in rank their Mission Slip blessing their ministry for the next year. Women Religious really never retire, we get recycled. Each sister either has a job outside the monastery and inside the monastery. This service recognizes the importance each one of us play in the community and we have the opportunity to celebrate each and every sister during this time. The day wasn't over after prayer - no the time honored tradition of Family Feast took place. This year we topped off our days of meetings at "Gracie's Diner" - The committee transformed our assembly room into a 50's diner with great music, delicious food and even acted as our waitresses. It was delightful and we had a great time playing a game of Jeopardy with each question pertaining to our community and each sister. We began our week on a good note and ended it in the same fashion.
