On July 28th, we celebrated the first Jubilee in our new Monastery.  We joyfully remembered promises Sr. Harriet Woehler and Sr. Jeannie Voges made 75 years ago.  Sr. Harriet renewed her Monastic Vows of Stability in the Monastery, Fidelity to the Monastic Way of Life and Obedience, before her loving community.  Unfortunately, because of health restrictions, Sr. Jeannie was unable to be present for the celebration, but she was fondly remembered in our prayers, our thoughts, and our hearts.

Sr. Harriet and Sr. Jeannie both attended Academy Immaculate Conception and entered the Monastery in Ferdinand in 1949.  They became Novices the next year and made their First Monastic profession in 1951.  Three years later, in 1954, they made their Perpetual Monastic Profession.  In the early 60's they became founding members of Our Lady of Grace Monastery along with their other classmates, St. Phyllis Gronotte and Sr. Mary Seghers who are now both deceased.

Sr. Harriet and Sr. Jeannie began their careers in the classroom.

Sr. Harriet taught music at many different schools in the Diocese of Evansville and the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.  After leaving the classroom, she was the Pastoral Associate and Music Director at St. Barnabas, Indianapolis, IN.  She served her religious community as the Liturgist and Formation Director working with the Postulants, Novices and Sisters who were temporary professed.  She retired in 2020.

Sr. Jeannie taught in several grade schools in the Archdiocese of Indiana and served as Principal at St. Columba School in Columbus, Indiana.  In later years, Sr. Jeannie taught English at The Latin School and Our Lady of Grace Academy.  She went on to work at Our Lady of Grace Monastery in housekeeping and as the Guest Master.  From 1987-1989 she was in Pastoral Leadership in Cali, Columbia.  After returning from Columbia, she became the Dietary Manager at St. Paul Hermitage for four years.  She ended her career at St. John in Newburgh, Indiana as their Pastoral Associate and retired in 2016.
