Sr. Marie Oliger, OSB (formerly Frances Mae), 97, died peacefully at Envive of Beech Grove where she was a resident. Sr. Marie was born on January 4, 1926, in North Vernon, Indiana to the late Lawrence and Flora Anna Mary Oliger.   She entered Monastery Immaculate Conception in Ferdinand, Indiana in 1944. She was a founding member of Our Lady of Grace Monastery in Beech Grove.

Sr. Marie graduated from Hayden High School. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in  Education from St. Benedict College and a Master’s Degree in Education from Marquette University. 

As an educator, she taught in several schools in Indiana including Evansville, Vincennes, Tell City, Floyds Knobs, Columbus, Siberia, Perry County and Indianapolis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Elmer, Thomas, Charles and Lawrence Oliger, sisters Marie Shuck and Martha Juett. She is survived by her sister LaVerne Newcome of Las Cruces, New Mexico, several nieces and nephews and her Religious Community.

Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Grace Monastery on  Friday, July 28th  from 6:00 PM -  8:00 PM.  A wake service will be held at 7:00 PM in the Monastery Chapel. Her funeral Mass will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 29th.
