ARE THEY NOW ?
Sr. Mildred Wannemuehler
I was born in Evansville, Indiana. I had wonderful
parents and grew up with four siblings. I attended
St. Boniface School where the Ursulines of Louisville
taught me.
I went to the Academy at Ferdinand and fell in
love with the Benedictine spirit of community
and prayer. By the age of 20 I was in the classroom-teaching
junior high. After ten years of teaching in Evansville,
I was asked to be a member of the Beech Grove
Benedictines; joining them in 1960. I taught that
the Academy for 13 years, was in formation work
for ten years and the elected prioress for two
terms. In 1985 I took a sabbatical in California
to get a degree in wholistic spirituality. While
there I discerned what to do next.
